Cambridge Consultants, a leading technology product design and development firm, today hosts Innovation Day 2009 at Le Méridien in Cambridge, MA.  With over a hundred guests from some of the world’s most innovative technology companies in attendance, Innovation Day 2009 features an afternoon of presentations, seminars and technology demonstrations devoted to this year’s theme of translating innovation into profit.

"We are extremely pleased to host Innovation Day 2009, a truly unique forum that gathers prominent stakeholders from diverse industries that all share one common goal, to spur economic development and recovery via game-changing innovations and advancements," commented Pamela McNamara, President of U.S. Operations for Cambridge Consultants, shortly before opening the event.  "As a firm that focuses on transforming technology concepts into market realities on a daily basis we are particularly excited about opportunities in the US and see a lot of momentum building into several critical sectors including healthcare, clean tech, defense and information technologies."

Also speaking at the event, Phil Budden, Consul-General for the British Consulate-General Boston, will share his thoughts on the Boston and Cambridge market as a "hub of innovation" and transatlantic connection to UK-based technology centers.  Lita Nelsen, Director of MIT's Technology Licensing Office, will then provide insight into the value that university and business interactions bring to the marketplace while emphasizing the importance of accelerating these engagements as we work toward global economic recovery.

The late afternoon features a discussion led by Bob Metcalfe, General Partner at Polaris Venture Partners, MIT engineer-entrepreneur, Ethernet inventor, 3Com founder, and recipient of the National Medal of Technology.  Metcalfe will share lessons from Internet history and suggest how they might apply to meeting world needs for cheap and clean energy.  Commenting before the event, Metcalfe applauded Cambridge Consultants' Innovation Day, saying, “Technological innovation makes the world go round, and it's great, especially at a time like this, that Cambridge Consultants is again a leader in bringing breakthrough technologies into worldwide markets.”

In addition to discussions about technology development challenges and opportunities, Innovation Day features a number of prototype technology demonstrations showcasing several disruptive technologies.  These include displays of several ‘Connected Health’ products in a lounge scenario and a bathroom scenario, Cambridge Consultants' Prism200 handheld through-wall radar device and the Q2 Cube internet radio.
