Cambridge Consultants collaborates with Philips Medical Systems on radio architecture behind wireless telemetry system for patient monitoring

Cambridge Consultants collaborated with Philips Medical Systems, a unit of Royal Philips Electronics, to provide the radio architecture behind the IntelliVue Telemetry System. This 1.4 GHz wireless medical telemetry system enables continuity of care by maintaining a connection between caregivers and ambulatory patients and enhances a patient’s freedom to walk around or rest in bed comfortably while maintaining uninterrupted monitoring.

The IntelliVue Telemetry System’s radio communications technology wirelessly conveys data from a patient-worn monitor to the central hospital information system where it can be viewed by clinicians. Working with Cambridge Consultants to modify digital radio technology enabled Philips Medical Systems to develop its cost-effective Smart-hopping™ solution, which manages bandwidth to accommodate simultaneous and continuous monitoring of multiple patients.
