- Transmission of a data burst, including FEC encoding
- Acquisition and soft demodulation of the burst at the receiver, including FEC decoding
- Advanced receiver using a holistic Pilot Assisted Transmission (PAT) strategy (jitter compensation, channel estimation, etc.) to maximise the probability of successful reception
