Colour Secure
There is a growing global problem of product
and document counterfeiting which has led to a need for new
and innovative security techniques. Using a novel form of
spectrometer, designed by Cambridge Consultants, Colour Secure
Ltd have produced a new security technique that can be applied
for a fraction of the price of alternative methods.
The new approach involves printing a unique ‘colour
signature’ onto documents and products, such as passports
and pharmaceutical packaging, as part of the normal production
process. This signature contains embedded information that
is invisible to the naked eye.
Our role has been to help combine an innovative low-cost security technique with a colour recognition capability that can accurately measure invisible-to-the-eye information embedded in the colour signatures. To achieve this we produced a novel spectrometer that has been integrated into a compact handheld verification terminal.
Based on our own intellectual property in this technology area, the result was a robust spectrometer element that can be built for a relatively low price in volume, helping Colour Secure to commercialise their security innovation at an attractive price.
The new device is allowing our client
to demonstrate its colour signatures, and to provide development
kits to users, such as governments and corporations.
