Richard Traherne

Head of Wireless

"Wireless technology is moving at breathtaking speeds. Technology costs have reduced dramatically over the last decade, leading to a vastly greater presence of wireless in our everyday lives. Widespread acceptance and technological advances have fuelled this growth, resulting in a range of new product possibilities that were previously unattainable.

Replacing the wires, connectors and ducting is just the start. The $1 radio will lead to new classes of products that can communicate with their surroundings, presenting entirely new ways for information to be gathered and processed.

Just look at what is happening in our hospitals today - we are replacing the wires which tether the patient to their bed-side monitors. We are also seeing sensors used inside our body, where the wires don't reach, with a capability to monitor our health as we go about our normal daily lives. Today, the only barrier to further wireless products is our imagination."
