Cambridge Consultants is working to develop the next generation of dry powder inhaler for Chiesi Farmaceutici SpA, an emerging European pharmaceutical company based in Parma, Italy. The new inhaler is being designed as the easiest to use dry powder inhaler on the market. The design incorporates features to improve performance and make the device discreet, intuitive to use and futuristic in appearance.

These features include protection to stop the user "double-dosing" and a dose counter to give reassurance about the level of drug remaining in the device. The design also makes the device exceptionally easy to use, an issue critical for those who rely on inhaled drug to combat an acute attack or reaction, as is the case for some asthma suffers. Feedback from trial user groups based in the France, Italy and the UK has shown an extremely positive response to the new design.

Cambridge Consultants have worked with some of the worlds leading manufacturers during the technical transfer stage, validation and production scale up. In addition, we supported Chiesi during the build of devices for clinical trials.
