Strategic
Partner for Unipath
Cambridge Consultants assisted Unipath
in developing a series of personal testing products.
-
a natural method of contraception that identifies the fertile
days of a woman’s cycle. Unipath had a requirement
for a hand held consumer product for the quantitative measurement
of hormones in urine. Cambridge Consultants began the development
with activities to select and prove the principle of a low
cost optoelectronic reader, which was then integrated into
a laboratory system for use by the assay team. The full development
was carried out in close co-operation with Unipath, where
Cambridge Consultants were responsible for the core of the
product, including optoelectronics and ASIC development.
- a fertility monitor,
designed for women actively
wishing to become pregnant, Unipath recognised the opportunity for a fertility
monitor and required us to develop a completely new product for the fertility
user, based largely on the PERSONA technology. We carried out a fast track
product development
programme, making use of existing optoelectronics alongside new elements, such
as
industrial design and user interface. All work was completed within 9 months
of the initial briefing.
- the world's first ever
digital pregnancy test. Unipath wanted to bring the certainty
of digital reading to the pregnancy test market. Our experience
of product innovation was used to generate concepts for
market focus groups. Unipath were then able to select the
most attractive format for the product in-line, with the
low target cost per unit. We also contributed to the design
of the optoelectronic reader and used our industry knowledge
to advise on component selection, enabling an extremely
low cost unit. |
