CCL
Tackles Emerging Energy Markets
Cambridge
Consultants Limited (CCL) believes
that renewable energy is the way forward
for both companies and individuals
to make significant savings on energy
bills, whilst saving on precious resources
at the same time. The company is driving
forward its offerings in the emerging
energy markets, particularly in increasing
power efficiency in domestic and commercial
environments, and also in the renewable
energy arena.
This move
has been reinforced by the strategic
new appointment of Dr Johannes Hartick
to strengthen the companys offering
in the automotive energy market in
particular, where moves are being
made to make engines more powerful
but emissions cleaner, all while using
less fuel. Johannes brings almost
15 years experience in combustion
and emissions purification systems
and will head up a team with expertise
ranging from sensors and optics to
exhaust emissions and on-board diagnostics.
Fuel
cell technology, heralded as the energy
source of the future for automotive
transport, has applications in industries
as diverse as vehicle, consumer product
and power plant manufacture. Deemed
as one of the most efficient energy
conversion technologies, it is a low
noise and pollution method of electricity
provision. CCL has considerable experience
in this market, and with Dr Harticks
appointment, fuel cell technology
can now be brought to industries who
may not even have considered it a
feasible option.
"With
a fuel cell powertrain costing around
100 times more than a petrol engine
at present, it is just not a realistic
option to introduce this technology
to the mass market. By utilising CCLs
experience of designing for mass manufacture,
we can help overcome the economic
obstacles that are currently hindering
successful market entry, to introduce
this clean and efficient technology,"
comments Dr Hartick.
With the prediction
that the market across Europe for
energy generation from renewable sources
(wind, wave, solar etc) will increase
by over 400% in the next decade, Dr
Hartick believes that CCLs expertise
in control, monitoring and sensing
products will help them lead the way
in this sector. For example, with
the correct sensing equipment combined
with CCLs wireless communications
expertise, maintenance activities
can be minimised for either wind farms
or tidal energy generation plants
in offshore locations.
CCL has recruited
22 new members of staff this year,
with Johannes the 6th at senior level.
Despite continued uncertainty in a
number of technology markets, the
company is continuing to trade profitably
and has welcomed many new clients
already this year.
