Business Developer – Wireless

Main purpose of the job

To develop and lead Cambridge Consultants’ business in the field of wireless design and development. The role will involve the creation of value propositions that are based on our design skills and IP in specific wireless areas and communicating these propositions to the market through focussed sales campaigns.

Type of work undertaken by the division/group

Development of radio/wireless technology and products, ranging from radio integrated circuits (ICs) through to complete wireless products and systems. The division has world-class capability in RF engineering, baseband, DSP and software solutions.

Specific responsibilities

  • To create focussed sales campaigns based on our investment in technology and skills within the division
  • To identify target companies and devise appropriate technical offerings
  • To initiate contact, make pre-sales visits and identify prospective business
  • To build sales propositions and develop them into commercial relationships with clients
  • To lead the bid teams – working alongside a project manager and/or technical authority
  • To close sales – negotiating terms and conditions
  • To be part of the project delivery team, remaining ultimately responsible for the client relationship and commercial success of the programme

Minimum requirements

  • Substantial experience and a track-record of wireless design
  • Experience of high-value, technical sales
  • Market knowledge of existing technology (Wi-Fi, ZigBee, UWB, DECT, Bluetooth, GSM/3G, as well as custom radio solutions)
  • Degree in an appropriate engineering subject
  • Experience of taking wireless products through the full development cycle is highly desirable
  • Supplementary commercial qualifications are highly desirable
