Senior Software Application Architect

Main purpose of the job

Your main responsibility will be to work on cutting edge technology developments for our clients. As part of a high calibre team, you will design and develop exciting software applications to give our clients the technological edge. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all stages of the development lifecycle, from initial concept generation through to final delivery and support.

Type of work undertaken by the division/group

The Software Technologies Group designs and develops software systems across all of Cambridge Consultants’ client industries. We have particular strengths in the design of effective software architectures, using the latest tools and techniques, to efficiently deliver high quality software solutions. We work in multidisciplinary project teams on diverse projects such as medical device development, automotive radar, high volume product development and large distributed data-driven enterprise solutions.

Specific responsibilities

Engineers work on client assignments in multidisciplinary project teams, sometimes on more than one concurrently, and in different team roles. High quality work is essential from every team member.

As a project team member you would be responsible for carrying out your specific project tasks within the timescales and budgets agreed with your project managers. There are many aspects to the work in addition to design. As your experience develops, you might wish to take on roles with increased responsibilities. Such roles include Team Leader, Technical Authority and Project Manager.

Minimum requirements

  • Excellent scientific/analytical degree
  • Significant experience and proven track record in working with a team on leading edge software developments, delivering on time and on budget
  • Significant experience and understanding of the full software development lifecycle and associated processes
  • Expert knowledge of C++, C#, the .NET framework, relational database design, software/data architecture
  • A broad understanding of the field of Computer Science
