Cambridge Consultants
Senior Bluetooth Embedded Software Engineer

Senior Bluetooth Embedded Software Engineer

Main purpose of the job

Working on Cambridge Consultants’ wireless projects, you will design and write embedded Bluetooth software for electronic systems. Cambridge Consultants has a long and successful track record in Bluetooth – Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR), the Bluetooth chip market leader, spun-out of Cambridge Consultants in 1999 and since then we have progressed our Bluetooth expertise still further by developing advanced Bluetooth solutions for novel and sophisticated applications within our developments.

Strong teamwork is an important aspect of what we do and in most cases you will work with software or hardware engineers as part of a multidisciplinary project team. You may also participate in meetings with clients and prospects from time-to-time and have the opportunity for small amounts of travel.

We define embedded software as software that functions at the electronics/software boundary and/or in a constrained environment (e.g. tight memory, low power).

Type of work undertaken by the division/group

Cambridge Consultants has created many world firsts; such as Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) – developers of the first, and now market leading, single-chip Bluetooth solution, the first Ultra-Wide-Band (UWB) product to obtain FCC certification under new part 15 regulations and the first hospital-based cardiac monitor to operate in the WMTS medical frequency band.

Our Wireless Software Group develops leading-edge software for a range of demanding applications. Recognized as a world leader within wireless we enjoy a growing customer-base in a stimulating range of markets – including telecommunications, automation, healthcare, automotive and consumer goods. Our project examples range from ultra-low-current radio chips used within the human body, through high-volume consumer devices, to high-end professional satellite communication and air-traffic-control equipment. We also have a significant Intellectual Property library containing elements such as Bluetooth and DECT protocol stacks.

The group carries out software design and architecture, as well as coding, usually in C. Other languages are occasionally used, such as assembly and Java, as required.
