Cambridge Consultants has, for over fifteen years, been applying its technology skills to the development of ITS solutions in the transport industry. Our core strengths include:
- We are one of the few consultancies in the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) area who also undertakes significant work in the automotive industry. This experience will allow us to help develop next-generation co-operative vehicle highway systems
- As the Highway Agency’s contractor for ensuring system wide NMCS compatibility, we have extensive experience of roadside networks and their interfaces. This experience gives us many insights into implementation and integration issues that may arise when rolling ITS systems out
- We have been heavily involved in safety work for a number of years. For example, we have successfully used our experience of safety processes for the development of complex ITS-style systems on the M42 ATM project. We developed a novel risk management tool specifically for the project which supports distributed working by a number of independent organisations
- Based on our wireless experience, we are able to advise companies on the most appropriate wireless communications technology for ITS applications. We also help develop wireless technologies for integration into ITS solutions
- We have significant experience in sensor development relevant to the road and rail sector. Examples include radar technology, 3D location technology, environmental sensing systems and optical sensors
- In the train sector we have developed a system for London Underground's Central Line to collect and analyse data from a variety of sensors on the trains in order to improve maintenance efficiency. We have also developed a number of ticketing solutions for Ascom
- Cambridge Consultants has
been involved in a number of projects in air traffic management.
Our projects range from advising air traffic control authorities
on the commercial impact of new technologies via technology
assessments for wireless technology, to developing for Park
Air Electronics a new generation of ATC ground station radios,
which forms the core of the FAA's new radio infrastructure
Therefore, whether it's developing new
technology or advising on the application of new technology
to keep transport moving, Cambridge Consultants is well placed
to help.
