Data Requires Faster Processing
The latest
WiFi standards are defining data speeds of over 100Mbit/s.
The UWB standards are already defining 480Mbit/s with more
than 1Gbit/s already being planned. Point-to-point links in
millimetric bands are offering >1Gbit/s today. How can
processing technology enable all requirements to be met?
Cambridge Consultants has a proven
track record of developing leading edge wireless systems. Our
DSP group has developed a tool-set, based around our APE flexible
DSP core, that allows designers to configure an ultra-fast
Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) core and then output Verilog source
code for implementation in either FPGAs or ASICs.
- Core can perform more than 4 million 128-point FFTs or inverse
FFTs per second
- Highly efficient Radix-2 based design for lowest silicon
cost
- Real or complex buffered inputs
- Software application to generate optimised Verilog source
from user requirements
- Bit accurate C and MATLAB models
- Suitable for FPGAs and ASICs
Additionally, Cambridge Consultants’ DSP group has experience
of using highly parallel DSP processors to implement software defined
radio (SDR) implementations for broadband wireless applications. These
devices can offer scalable solutions to enable even the most complex
multi-antenna, multi-sector access points or base stations to be
implemented as a software-defined radio. These technologies
are applicable to OFDM and OFDMA based systems such as WiMAX, WiFi
and UWB.
