Evolving AI to enable the Next Generation of Digital Pathology

Date | 20 August 2019
Time | 12.30 – 13.00
Speaker | Joe Corrigan, Head of Technology, Medical Technology, Cambridge Consultants

The development of AI tools and their integration into diagnostics systems and workflows present a topical opportunity to transform digital pathology. This transformation will not be restricted to the traditional whole slide imaging and evaluation steps of digital pathology. Instead, it will impact most of its aspects - from sample collection to diagnosis.

AI will present the opportunity to develop the first fully integrated digital pathology systems, which, by using adaptive processing and analyses it will offer users feedback in real time.  Hence, it will bullet-proof the validity of the diagnostic process and results. Such systems will reduce the chance of misdiagnosis and allow the implementation of more thorough treatment decision processes.
