The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) is hosting their annual Surgical Disruptive Technology Summit and NBT (Next Big Thing) Innovation Weekend, February 22-24, 2024. The event is designed to be a different type of surgical meeting, where industry and providers can connect to have open dialogue about innovations in surgical technology and surgical practice.

Cambridge Consultants' Maureen Halligan, VP, Advisory & Innovation Services, and Alex Maret, VP, Robotics & Digital Surgery, will be speaking at this year's event on Saturday, February 24th. Specific sessions include:

7:45 AM-12:00 PM | My favorites

This session will compare and contrast surgical devices and techniques with short explanations of each approach and a comprehensive question and answer discussion. Panelists will spend one minute describing their approach and then an open debate of technique and devices will continue until potential gaps in the toolset are revealed that could lead to further innovative options for the future of procedures. Maureen Halligan will be moderating the 'My Favorite - Digital Surgical Analysis Tool' portion of the session.

12:00-1:15 PM | My favorite unmet surgical need

This lunch session will dive into clinical problems facing surgeons across the clinic, operating room, and procedure suite, which innovation has failed to fully address. The panel members will present one of their most relevant challenges and a discussion will proceed to determine why these areas of clinical practice have been so difficult to solve. Maureen Halligan joins this session for Cambridge Consultants.

1:15-5:00 PM | Digital Surgical Platforms: State of the Technology

Alex Maret, VP, Robotics & Digital Surgery, will join this session focused on the recent, substantial rise in robotic surgical platforms. Surgical robots are being made and released all over the world and the focus of these platforms are broad and varied. These sessions will evaluate current, new to market, and potential digital surgical platforms which argue to become the new way we will operate and perform advanced procedures over the next 5 to 10 years. Robotic platforms will be presented in multiple sessions with panel discussions.
