SUMMARY:IEEE Military Communications Conference (MILCOM) 2024
DESCRIPTION:Now in its 44th year\, MILCOM has been the preeminent forum bringing together thought leaders in government\, industry\, and academia to discuss the innovative research and cutting-edge technologies that are shaping the future of military communications. \nCambridge Consultants’ Taylor Pearlman\, Next-Generation Networks Lead\, will be moderating a panel session focused on ‘Autonomous networks for the next generation of military connectivity.’ \nDriven by advances in AI technology\, autonomous and AI-driven networks are poised to offer a new paradigm of connectivity for the D.O.D. These offer fundamentally new capabilities to military networks\, including the potential to dynamically adapt networks to a changing battlefield\, automatically detect and mitigate threats and attacks\, and seamlessly route connectivity to warfighters in the most difficult\, adverse environments. Autonomous networks that offer more flexibility\, resiliency\, and adaptability allow the D.O.D. to effortlessly maintain situational awareness and reliable communications in combat environments and improve on-base wireless performance. \nConversely\, these networks demand a new paradigm in cybersecurity to ensure secure operation. Autonomous and AI-driven networks open an entirely new attack surface to nation-state actors that will require a new series of tools\, tactics\, and strategies to secure and maintain. \nThis panel will address the potential and the complications of autonomous networks for military use\, including the key questions: \n\nWhat do highly autonomous networks look like in a D.O.D. context (both on-base and on-battlefield\, and what value would they bring?\nWhat aspects of autonomous networks can be leveraged from the telecoms industry\, and what cannot (or shouldn’t)?\nHow can such networks be secured from sophisticated\, peer-peer adversaries?\nWhat actions should the DoD\, integrator\, and research community do now to pave the way for military adoption of AI-enabled networking?\n\nPanelists include: \n\nAyodele Damola\, Director of AI/ML Strategy\, Ericsson\nGustave Anderson\, Associate Fellow\, Lockheed Martin\nBishal Thapa\, Research Leader\, RTX\nLieutenant Colonel Benjamin Pimentel\, Communications Officer and Electronics Engineer\, Marine Corps\n\nGoing to IEEE MILCOM? SUMMARY:SUSTAINAMED: Pioneering Sustainability in Healthcare Innovation 2024
DESCRIPTION:The ‘SUSTAINAMED – Pioneering Sustainability in Healthcare Innovation’ 2024 conference\, is a conference aimed at putting sustainability at the centre of the healthcare sector. There is increasing need for medical device manufacturers to drastically reduce environmental impact\, while meeting rising regulatory demands. But these big challenges also present rich opportunities for those equipped to seize them. This two-day conference brings together leading experts and a broad range of stakeholders\, to share ideas and best practices in exceeding your organization’s sustainability goals. \nCharlie Dean will be presenting on: \n\nSustainable by design – integrating sustainable principles in developing medical devices for the circular economy
