The world’s lowest power Voice Activity Detection (VAD)

‘Ecoutez’ is the architecture for the world's lowest power, flexible IP block for accelerating VAD processing. This interactive demo showcases how speech detection can be delivered at about 100th of the power consumed by modern hearing aids.

With the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) audio standard now in an advanced state, investment is set to accelerate, bringing a wealth of innovative audio products to market. But is it that simple? Will the migration to BLE leave Classic as a faded memory, or will it remain a critical standard for years to come?

In this keynote, Jez Stark presents new analysis on BLE and provides critical success factors on viable migration paths for audio technology. The talk will cover:

Jez has over 20 years’ experience in the audio and semiconductor industry. Central to Jez’s role as Head of Semiconductor Services is helping our semiconductor partners expand their competitive advantage through breakthrough technology and custom intellectual property.

Having established his career in engineering roles at Dolby, Panasonic and ARM, Jez spent nearly 10 years at Cambridge Silicon Radio (later acquired by Qualcomm), during which he held a range of technical, product management and commercial leadership roles. Whilst at CSR, Jez wrote patents for Bluetooth Low Energy and worked closely with Bose, Jawbone, Beats, Braven, Logitech and Monster, developing a range of leading products.

Jez holds an MEng honours degree in Digital Communications Engineering from the University of South Wales and is a member of the IET.
