In this AGR-EPI webinar, Sajith Wimalaratne, Head of Automation & Autonomy at Cambridge Consultants, led a discussion between Ben Scoot-Robinson, CEO of The Small Robot Company, Rob Parker, Leafy Crop Salad Manager at G’s Fresh, Chris Roberts, Head of Industrial Robotics at Cambridge Consultants, and the Agri-EPI CEO Dave Ross.
Improving end-to-end efficiency through the integration of technology.
The panel explored the challenges and critical gaps that prevent agri technology being rolled out – despite the massive demand from end users. Revealing fascinating insights, they drew on their own experience of finding ways to deliver value-added technology to help farmers thrive.
Some of the issues debated included:
- Academics and start-ups have great ideas for technology and some even have good working prototypes. But taking this through the technology development process and into the hand of the end users is extremely difficult.
- Usually, technology is developed through the eyes of technology developers and not through the views of the end user. This does not necessarily lead to the right product that adds value to the end users.
- Developing technology for the agri sector has added challenges, for example, working with the seasonal restrictions.
