Our specialisms

Generation and distribution
The energy market is changing faster than ever, in both supply and demand. Generation and distribution must embrace renewables, micro-grids and micro-generation, while continually reducing the carbon intensity of the supply chain.
This calls for dramatic improvements in operational efficiency, using improved modelling from big data to make better-informed decisions.
With our strengths in sensing and control, combined with world-class data science, we deliver breakthrough solutions.

From smart meters to smart homes
The smart meter roll-out is the first step towards 'making energy visible'. Capturing and analysing data at the point of consumption can benefit both consumers and suppliers, facilitating intelligent energy applications, improving load balancing and maximising discretionary consumption of energy by the consumer.
We have a long track record in designing the smart meters and HEMs (Home Energy Management Systems) that are paving the way for new models of energy consumption.
How we work
We take a collaborative approach, using our technical expertise to complement and enhance our clients’ capabilities and industry knowledge. Drawing on our pool of world-class engineers and scientists, we assemble each team to specifically match each project, combining technical excellence with commercial awareness.
With long experience working in this highly regulated sector, where safety and reliability are paramount, we help our clients understand and evaluate emerging technologies, to create genuinely unique and viable products and services.

Tech, tools & facilities

Analytical labs
Our laboratories provide high accuracy measurement and analysis for the wide range of projects we undertake. Specialist equipment includes a gas chromatography mass spectrometer (GCMS), a Matersizer particle size analyzer, a Spraytec laser diffraction droplet size analyzer, high-speed and thermal imaging cameras and rapid-development custom image analysis software.

Anechoic test chamber
Our custom anechoic radio and antenna test chamber is a highly sophisticated 5m cube. Inside, we carry out automated three-dimensional measurement and visualization of wireless device behavior and test body-worn technology using body phantoms or real live test subjects. This helps us to understand and optimize real-word RF performance of products such as smart implants (including implanted telemetry), connected drug delivery devices and wearables.

Appcessory toolkit
This lightning-fast scoping and feasibility software platform allows us to very quickly model a connected device, saving time, preventing costly missteps and ensuring optimal performance. Taking key requirements as a starting point, we can estimate the dimensions and cost of the PCB and rapidly see how a range of design decisions influence the complex trade-off between factors such as size, power, battery life, radio range and more.

Prototyping workshops
Our electronic and mechanical prototyping workshops allow us to produce technically credible prototypes that bring ideas to life and offer a powerful demonstration of their value. All while maintaining extremely high standards of quality that conform to ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001 regulations. Using the latest CNC and milling machines, lathes, welding gear and wire harness and cable assembly tools, we are able to produce parts very quickly and assemble full-scale working prototypes for testing and consumer trials.
