Careers at CC

Pre-university

We offer a range of technical apprenticeships to those who are not looking to take the typical university route and for those considering a career change. You will have the ability to gain professional qualifications while learning on the job and earning a competitive salary.

For those intending to go to university, we offer technology scholarships schemes to gap year students who have completed their A-levels (or equivalent) and are planning to study STEM related subjects at university.

Undergraduate

As an undergraduate university student, you’ll have the opportunity to join us for a paid 12-month internship as a part of your degree.

You will be able to learn from experts in all manner of disciplines and be given real responsibility. This is a chance to show us your skills – and it may lead to a full-time job after graduation.

Graduate

Graduates get to work on projects they’re passionate about from the get-go. Unlike graduate schemes, we give you full flexibility and the opportunity to enhance your skills.

You’ll be a trusted member of the team and allowed to take the reins on what you’re good at straight away. We make sure you’re recognised for your contribution and given the springboard to forge a unique and fulfilling career.

Work experience

Each year for one week in August, we welcome a collection of passionate students from years 10 – 13 to our Cambridge office to gain hands on experience.

If you’re interested in the day to day life of a corporate role, or a curious STEM student who wants to help develop a piece of tech, then please complete the application below for the role you’re most interested in and send to workexperience@cambridgeconsultants.com.

Application process

Our recruitment approach is famously rigorous. To help you prepare, we’ve created a short video animation of the application process. It explains our location and what to expect when you visit our offices.

If you still have questions, please get in touch with a member of the recruitment team. They’ll be happy to hear from you.

Help with applying

Do your research

Regardless of the role you’re applying for, we recommend you read the About us and How we work pages on the website. We also suggest you take a look some of our recent press releases, case studies and insights.

Passion is important

Include your hobbies and interests – we care about who you are, not just what you’re studying.

Tell us about you

Don’t assume we know anything about the course you’re studying: list your modules and projects.

Answer each question fully and accurately

Thoroughly check grammar and spelling and ask someone else to proofread your application.

Include dates

We need to know when you started university and when you graduated or are due to graduate.

At the face-to-face, plan to arrive early

Nobody wants to start their interview in a fluster! Aim to arrive around 10 minutes before your interview start time. We’ll make you a drink, get you settled in and generally make sure you’re comfortable before kick-off.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply for more than one role?

Yes, if you feel that more than one role is of interest, we actively encourage you to apply for multiple. In fact, you can apply to as many as you like and we won’t discredit you.

Do you offer summer internships?

All of our internships are 12-month placements so you can be involved in client projects, typically these start between May – October time each year.

Do you have deadlines on your applications?

Typically, our roles are managed on a rolling basis with no deadlines, but we’d advise you to apply sooner rather than later. Although, if we’ve had a role on our website for a while it’s still worth making an application as often, we’re recruiting several candidates for one role.

Do you have a graduate scheme?

No. When we hire graduates, we want them to do what they’re good at, instead of rotating from one department to another. If you join us, you’ll do what you do best as a trusted member of the team.

Do you provide visa sponsorship?

Yes, for graduates you would progress from a student visa to a graduate visa for two years, then after this point we sponsor skilled worker visa’s and cover costs involved.

Should I attach a portfolio for my design application?

For all of our design internships and graduate roles, you must submit a portfolio for us to consider your application. We’d encourage showcasing your design thinking across the full project cycle, including hand sketching, prototyping and product rendering.

Meet our people

Matthew Miles
CC tech scholar

“My tech scholar year has allowed me to better understand what I want to get out of university and will help me shape my degree.

The skills and experience gained will give a good kick start to my career.”

Emily Andrews
Intern – Mechanical Engineering

Collaborating with clients has been so helpful in placing my engineering knowledge into real-world context.

I’ve been exposed to the complexities of challenges that are faced by clients and learnt that project work demands a solid understanding of engineering principles and their applications.

Overall, it’s been invaluable – and given me a well-rounded technical and professional skillset that I can take on to university and into my engineering career.”

Fenno Slade
Graduate Engineer – Real-Time Software & Algorithms

“Being new at a company and taking on your first proper role after university can be daunting.

CC understand that challenge and everyone here is so welcoming and helpful.

It has a social club that purely exists to fund fun things that employees will use and enjoy, such as company sports teams, game nights, go karting, and company parties, all of which are a great way to start feeling settled in the company and city.”

Robert Tan
joined as a tech scholar in 1993

“Throughout my 30 years at Cambridge Consultants, I have had the opportunity to work on some inspiring projects.

It’s important to know that you will have uncapped potential to grow as a person here, and that’s one of the reasons why I am still at CC.

From starting as a tech scholar to now being a divisional head of technology, I am yet to work a day that I get bored.”
