Product design and development firm Cambridge Consultants today announced it has won a Gold award in the second annual Stevie Awards for Great Employers, recognized as an Employer of the Year in Diversified Services. Cambridge Consultants has also received a Global Trade Award from the Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM), for its excellence in international trade.

The Global Trade Awards recognized four Massachusetts companies for best practices in conducting global business – it selected Cambridge Consultants for its ability to use innovation and technology to help clients worldwide develop first-to-market products across a diverse range of industries. The Stevie Awards selected Cambridge Consultants for its comprehensive range of employee engagement initiatives, which encourage innovation while creating opportunities to give back to the community.

In addition to solving complex problems for clients, approximately 10 percent of all engineers’ time is dedicated to corporate development programs, or employee-initiated ideas that are funded internally and led by Cambridge Consultants’ innovators. More than 20 internal projects have become global spin-off companies in their own right, including three billion-dollar firms – CSR, Xaar and Domino Printing Sciences.

Cambridge Consultants was also recognized by the Stevie Awards for its investments in community-building, such as with its tech scholar and intern programs, which recruit high school graduates and university undergraduates to spend a period of time working for Cambridge Consultants as part of their ongoing education.

The Stevie Awards judges were impressed with the company’s commitment to its staff and growth. “Cambridge Consultants is an innovative organization with a focus on smart growth benefit programs for engaged employees,” remarked one of the Stevie Awards judges. Another judge said, “You are to be applauded for your apprenticeship and trainee programs. Your commitment to staff through corporate development programs is outstanding and quite admirable.”

The Stevie Awards for Great Employers recognize the world’s best employers and the human resources professionals, teams, achievements and HR-related products and suppliers who help to create and drive great places to work. More than 500 nominations from organizations around the world were submitted this year for consideration, and more than 50 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s winners.
